About
I first did a 3 Day-Detox when I was quite young as part of my grandmother’s religious practices at the time. Of course, it wasn’t called a 3 Day-Detox at the time and the detoxification was intended for the soul, as much as it was for the body. I think it’s fair to say that for many it achieved both.
Basically, the practice at that time was simple fasting. We drank primarily water for 3 days and some fruit juices, but no solid foods. Even at an early age I understood how it made sense to physically empty the body from time to time and take some time for introspective thought. It was a part of day to day life that was intended to keep you healthier in body and spirit. As time went on I drifted away from both 3 Day-Detox and meditation practices. Like so many, I got busy with life and allowed other priorities to displace those of my own physical and spiritual health. There just isn’t a lot of time for “me” in the fast-paced world of career, coaching softball, family responsibility, and all those other things that become more important than “me”. I forgot about balance. Fortunately, as I got older I remembered balance and that’s how the 3 Day-Detox blog came to be.
The challenge was how to get a little bit of “me” back on the priority list. All those things like family and career are important and are the source of much happiness and satisfaction, but it is still important to have some activity for yourself. That’s what running, yoga, or knitting are for many people….some “alone with my thoughts” time. Personally, I like hiking in the woods and working on my landscaping projects. I really encourage you to have something for “me”. It is much easier than you think to work in some “me” time without taking anything away from the other important things in life.
The real problem was trying to get back to a healthier lifestyle physically. I started reading what I could find…and I found a lot. Fast diets, raw diets, supplements, drinks, bars…..one article says this is good for you and the next says it isn’t. I finally decided that 90% were trying to sell me something and 5% were like my grandmother, a bit extreme and wanting to decide for me how I should live. The remaining 5% had some common sense things to say about diet and health. In the end, I used my own experience and some of the good advice I found to begin my road back to being a better “me”. The formula is pretty simple because simple is what works for me. I take a little time for myself, I try to maintain a diet that consists of a least 50% raw foods, and I do a mild 3 Day-Detox three or four times a year. Seems to be working ok…I am happy, I feel good, and I have the energy and vitality to pursue the things that are important to me.
I write the 3 Day-Detox blog to share some of the things I found with you. I hope it will help you make some sense out of all the stuff you read on the web and help you in deciding what is best for you. In the blog you will find articles about different types of detoxification, common questions about detox topics, and hopefully some encouragement to make tomorrow better than yesterday. I believe that some form of detox is beneficial to most people. As I said, I prefer 3 Day-Detox methods but others will be discussed as well. I also encourage increasing your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables…it’s pretty much a no brainer. Unless you are already eating a primarily raw food diet…you have some room for improvement. At any rate, the information will be here and you can take from it whatever helps you find your own way to self improvement.
I hope you will find it a 3 Day-Detox blog worth reading and that you will feel free to participate by commenting and sharing your views and experiences.
